The Community Learning Service now offers accredited courses in a number of different areas leading to nationally recognised qualifications.
Please note that not all of these courses will be running at set times, if you are interested in putting your name down then please send us a message and we can add you to the waiting list.

NCFE Level 1 Award in Employability Skills – no current courses running
The object of this qualification is to help the learner develop, enhance their skills required for the working environment and develop their confidence and motivation for employment.
NCFE Level 2 Certificate in Employability Skills – no current courses running
This qualification aims to develop and enhance skills required for the working environment and improve learners’ confidence and communication skills in order to prepare them for employment or for a change in employment
NCFE Level 2 Award in Support Work in Schools and Colleges
This qualification is an introduction to the knowledge and understanding needed to work in a school or college environment. It can apply to the many varied roles that full and part-time support staff may fulfil including: administrative roles, site support roles, technical roles and volunteers, as well as roles that work directly with children and young people in the learning environment.
NCFE Level 2 Award in Understanding Children and Young People’s Mental Health – no current courses running
The purpose of this qualification is to increase learner’s knowledge and awareness of children and young people’s mental health, including the impact of mental ill-health on children and young people and available support. This course is suitable for anyone potentially looking to work with Children and Young People.
NCFE Level 2 Certificate in Preparing to Work in Adult Social Care – no current courses running
This qualification provides an ideal taster for those who may be new to the sector or new to the world of work. It is accessible to learners of all ages who may want to understand more about working in health and social care. It aims to introduce some basic concepts of caring and preparation for employment in the sector.
It is a must have for anyone taking the adult Intermediate Health and Social Care apprenticeship.
RSPH Level 2 Award in Food Safety and Hygiene
The objective of the RSPH Level 2 Award in Food Safety and Hygiene is to cover the principles of food hygiene for food handlers working in a food environment, as well as to obtain a knowledge and understanding of the importance of food hygiene, associated food safety hazards, good hygiene practice, and controls based upon an awareness of food safety management systems.
Essential Digital Skills Qualification (EDSQ) – no current courses running
Want to feel up-to-date with technology? The Essential Digital Skills framework defines the digital skills adults need to safely benefit from, participate in and contribute to the digital world.
The qualifications are suitable for all ages and support the development of key digital skills such as using devices, creating and editing digital media, using technology to communicate, buying and transacting online, and how to stay safe and secure when using technology.
